My rating: 5 of 5 stars
As a fan of mysteries, chocolate, and Paris, I knew this book was a must-read. Simone LaFray is a 12-year-old secret agent whose current assignment to stop an art thief becomes personal when her family is targeted.
S.P. O’Farrell expertly immerses us in both beautiful Paris and the family patisserie. I really enjoyed seeing Paris through Simone’s precise eyes and all the descriptions of delicious chocolates and pastries. The mystery was well-plotted and left us with the perfect amount of intrigue to entice us to read the sequel (which I will!).
But possibly most of all, I appreciate how the challenges Simone faces encourage her to do the things that make her uncomfortable, that take her out of her comfort zone of blending into the background (as any good spy should do).
A great read for kids and adults, this book is a delectable confection! J’adore Simone LaFray!
